Senior Specialist, Educational Outreach and Audience Services

Purpose: The job holder is responsible for audience building and educational outreach. Creates or coordinates all concert and theatre programs, all posters, printed materials, and social media for all events, handles marketing and PR, and designs outreach packages

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Conduct regular Meetings with directors to discuss the media plan for each program
  • Arrange for visual design for posters, e-flyers, invitations for all public events and performances
  • Supervise and arrange the tasks of the freelance graphic designer
  • Maintain mailing lists for each program and each category of events (exhibitions, theatre productions, concerts)
  • Create social media campaigns/ads when necessary
  • Set up communication/publicity plan for Met Opera live streaming season
  • Maintain a list of area schools and informs them of upcoming events and exhibitions
  • Work with The American University in Cairo (AUC) enrollment and student services on enrollment outreach, including organization of events at schools, educational outreach packages, and student and faculty touring performances
  • Send email announcements to all AUC students for all events, auditions
  • Maintain email list of all arts major students
  • Maintain contacts with Cairo media, providing press releases and announcements, maximizing exposure of all arts events via free media: reviews, announcements, monthly calendars
  • Expand and maintain AUC arts department presence on all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and YouTube) for all events, performing ensembles (including the Cairo Choral Society)
  • Expand and update AUC Center for the Arts website
  • Maintain up to date contact lists with international cultural agencies, embassies and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and sends announcements and invitations for events
  • Inform the program directors and event producers of media deadlines
  • Maintain up-to-date audience attendance of all events
  • Coordinate the marketing and public relations activities. This includes; placing events on AUC Connect, aiding HUSS in updating mailing list, emailing students to inform them with our events, and facilitating internally with all event’s related subsidiaries
  • Prepare the events’ programs by writing and printing them before each event
  • Maintain and update the department website and social media platforms for all the events
  • Assign house managers and ushers for events in coordination with the executive assistant to chair
  • House manage the events and supervise the ushers
  • Work on inviting AUC president to the arts department’s major events
  • Update the full-time faculty about the arts department events using google calendar
  • Archive the departmental projects which includes posters, programs and images
  • Perform other tasks designated by the department chair and executive assistant to chair


Minimum Education Requirements:

  • University degree is required


  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience


  • Excellent knowledge; written and spoken of Arabic and English
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Willingness to work extended working hours
